Choose your phone sound
- Use Default when you want that familiar phone call feel, with a thin voice and a little distortion.
- Choose Payphone for a call from an old public phone. It adds a harsher, metallic edge and crackle on the line.
- Try Answering machine for a saved voice message with muffled speech, tape hiss and a slight pitch wobble, like an old cassette recording.

How the telephone filter works
Try it on a phone conversation in a sketch, a distant caller's voice in a game or a lo-fi section of a song. It's a stylized effect, so it won't match every kind of phone.
The Default preset cuts bass below 400 Hz and treble above 3,000 Hz, boosts the midrange near 1,400 Hz and uses compression to even out the level. A little distortion adds the rough edge. The other presets change the filtering and add crackle or tape hiss.
Keep your original if you'll need the full sound later: saving as WAV won't bring back the bass and treble the filter removes.
