Which audio format should you choose?
MP3 is a good starting point if you want a compressed file that most apps can play. OGG also makes files smaller, but check that your app accepts it. WAV gives you uncompressed 16-bit PCM audio, usually in a bigger file. FLAC compresses without the extra loss of audio detail you get with MP3 and OGG.
Each conversion decodes the audio and encodes a new copy, even if you choose the same format. It doesn't just rename the file or copy it bit for bit. WAV and FLAC won't restore detail already lost to compression. MP3 and OGG exports use a 44.1 kHz sample rate; you can choose 128 to 320 kbps for MP3, or 128 or 192 kbps for OGG.
